What is Counselling?

Counselling, otherwise known as ‘talk therapy’, is where the client is free to express whatever feelings, or challenges they are facing. This is a collaborative process between client and counsellor where we explore and learn to use your own resources, and the inner wisdom within you, to address the issues that are getting in the way of your well-being. This is all offered in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.

Counselling is NOT about giving advice or telling someone what to do!

 

Who is Counselling for?

Counselling can be helpful for anyone going through a hard time, or has emotionally stressful areas they cannot sort out on their own.

 

What does Counselling look like?

Each session is tailored differently for each individual, as each day, and each person is completely unique.

The first session will be a little different from the rest. We take a little bit of time to go through some paperwork, as well as discuss information around confidentiality. I also take this session for us to get to know each other, as well as what brought you to therapy and if there is anything you would like to gain from our time together.

 

How long will it take?

The time frame for counselling is different for each individual. You choose as much or as little as you are comfortable with sharing. As I strive to meet you where you are at, with every session, there is no pressure for your progress to move at a certain speed. For some people they may feel relief from the first session, while others may desire more time. My main hope for you is that from our time together you are able to gain some personal insight and resource your own tools to feel prepared in moving forward in life.
